Early Childhood Learning Center at TBH
The ECLC at Temple Beit HaYam provides a full range of educational programs for preschool-aged children of all faiths in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment within a Reform Jewish setting.
We offer full-day and half-day programs, two, three, and five days a week, and a low student-to-teacher ratio for children ages 12 months to five years old. We offer free VPK classes during the school year, both in the morning and afternoon.
Our program emphasizes the values of family, caring, community, joy, and tradition. Reading readiness, literacy, and mathematical skills are woven into the daily schedule. Children are given many opportunities for exploration and involvement in activities including cooking, arts, yoga, gardening, storytelling, music, and foreign language.
Our Mission, Curriculum, and Pedagogy
The mission of the ECLC is to meet the needs of our children through safe, nurturing learning environments, developmentally appropriate teachingg practices, and values-based pedagogy. Inspired bt the work of pediatrician, author, and master educator, Janusz Korczak, our philosophy honors children as intrinsically capable, intelligent humans. Our teaching methods, as well as our classrooms, reflect modern advancements in educational neuroscience and early childhood brain development. The ECLC strives to be at the forefront of early childhood education. We are passionate about learning how to teach and offer continual professional development for all of our educators.
The ECLC implements a curriculum and pedagogy which blends values, children's rights, and educational neuroscience to create a learning experience for children that is both reflective of their organic brain development and designed to nurture the child; physically, academically, and emotionally.
Our curriculum is designed to:
- Infuse values and ethics into early childhood education.
- Foster strong moral character in young children.
- Create learning environments that reflect children's organic brain development.
- Implement teaching methods that are conducive to children's natural acquisition of knowledge.
